Photo Design

NikkiElliott-P3Photodesign-Brick

  • Description: My third design project using new photography and photoshop skills.
  • Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For the photo, I took it at about 5:30pm outside my apartment complex. I had the subject turn toward the light and gave her lead room in the bricks. In photoshop, I adjusted the colors to look cooler for winter. Then, I put a black border around the photo. Next, using the pen tool, I made the triangles and changed the hypotenuse to a curve. Then, I put the quote in individual textboxes and rasterized it and fit it to the bricks.
  • Message: “If you can dream it, you can do it.” -Walt Disney
  • Audience: College students in visual media classes learning to use Adobe software.
  • Top Thing Learned: Basic skills of photography and photoshop. I also learned to not get frustrated when my first draft isn’t good.
  • Color scheme and color names: Complimentary: Brick, Teal
  • Title Font Name & Category: American Typewriter: Slab Serif
  • Copy Font Name & Category: Same
  • Date and location you took the photo(s): Tuesday February 4, Tuscany Apartments

  1. Nikki!! You did it, I love what you chose to do. You totally changed it up and got really creative. I think you’ve got something really nice here 🙂 I think my favorite part about it is how you designed it to lead your eye around and through. You tell us where to look and where to go and yet it keeps your eye in the design the whole time. You’re awesome! Hey if you have a minute you should check out Jame’s design it’s super impressive, http://jwtpblog.wordpress.com/design/comment-page-1/#comment-23

  2. Nikki, you did such a great job on your project! I love the message and how the girl you chose for your image is looking off into the distance like she is dreaming for her ideal future. You have a soothing color scheme that you picked that I thinks just fits right along into your dreamlike quality I think you were aiming for. I love the layout that you did, and I think it is so cool how you curved your design in the corners and made it transparent. Wonderful piece!
